The shrink next door podcast, for some reason, unlocked my sense of perception. This podcast turned tv show has a very unusual storyline - a therapist taking advantage of his patient. Yes, you heard that right!

Based on a real-life scenario, Dr Ike Herschkopf, a psychiatrist, “treats” his patient Marty Markowitz in a rather sinister way. Ike takes Marty under his control; sways him to cut off his sister from his life, throwing parties at his quiet house and eventually controlling Marty’s bank accounts. Poor Marty was naïve enough to comprehend everything and held in Ike’s manipulative captive for 29 years! All in the name of therapy!

The Shrink Next Door show on Apple Tv is a great place to visualise these horrendous happenings. But I loved listening to the podcast (available on Apple Podcast), where you can hear directly from Marty, his sister Phyllis, his neighbours and even from Ike himself.
