Inventing Anna

Inventing Anna has caught the attention of millions, including me. The 25 yr old, Anna Delvey, is known to be involved in fraudulent activities in the past. By successfully deceiving many of the wealthiest socialites from New York, Anna has included herself in their extravagant circle.

Shonda Rhimes, who created Grey's Anatomy, also created and produced Inventing Anna. Julia Garner played Anna and has pulled off the role remarkably. What grabbed my interest was the glorious and wealthy lifestyle Anna had lived. Not to mention, her way of communicating with her investors was articulate. The outfits and shoes bedazzled every scene in the series.

The quite annoying part of the show was the character Vivian Kent. Kent: is the portrayal of the real-life journalist that put together this case of Anna in her documentation, Jessica Pressler. Kent, a goal-oriented and always-on-the-work type of person, ignores the needs of the people around her and her behaviour towards her case- colleagues, though not intentional, are very selfish. She never takes their opinions or even lends an ear to them. The whole show is more or less her perspective on Anna, so it seemed to be underestimating some of Anna's scapegoats involved. Rachel Williams is one of the victims of Anna losing thousands of dollars. Rachel was also an opportunist who used her luxuries and ultimately had to pay the price. Rachel offered to pay for a vacation which Anna had promised to pay back. But good old Anna scammed Rachel like she scammed everyone else. Kent badly wanted Rachel to take full blame for some reason.

The writing was awful. Good script. But the dialogues and monologues? They were all over the place. The editing was the cherry on top for a show travelling to collateral damage.

Nevertheless, Anna's life was pretty interesting to watch as a spectator; how she managed to deceive the rich in their kingdom was intriguing.

Thanks for reading.
