Do Not Judge

If there is one thing I learnt over the years is, no matter how anyone functions, do not judge. Judges belong to the court, not at home or in the workplace. I learnt it. I realised it. Even more so, the Greatest of all judges, God, decrees human beings to not judge.

God says in the Holy Quran - if you ever were to judge between two or more people, then do it justly.

An-Nisa' 4:58

Indeed, God commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which God instructs you. Indeed, God is ever Hearing and Seeing.

I judged people at home, college, school and elsewhere. The person whom I evaluated on my mind as "good" turned out to be unpleasant, and the people whom I assessed as “bad” turned out to be decent.

Sometimes when you judge other peoples characters through their actions, things can get ugly. Like, how can you evaluate personality based on the event that you saw in the minute?

And judging others can also retract back to you. That thing you never liked in a person and hence undervalued them for that action can very well become something you might struggle with later in life.

I realised the importance of humility and understanding others views on things. Life is indeed the best teacher.
