Metals
Metals are lustrous, opaque, and denser elements that conduct heat and electricity effectively. Due to their free electrons, metals have outstanding thermal conditions. If properly maintained, metals can be employed for a very long time.

Brass:
Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, has remarkable properties that make this metal versatile. This golden-brown metal tarnishes easily, and hence they are lacquered. Brass cookware and utensils are given as a send-off gift for brides. Brass mugs, window railings, and wall coatings create richness to the ambience.
Silver:
Malleable and ductile, this metal has a stunning gloss when polished. Silver is a high-maintenance metal, meaning it needs thorough care against moisture and air. There are two types of silver:
1. Sterling Silver:
Sterling Silver is an alloy consisting of 92.5% silver and the rest copper. This expensive alloy is used in jewellery making rather than for cutleries and utensils.
2. Silver plating:
This technique is adopted for manufacturing inexpensive products such as plates, cutleries, and other silverware. The base is usually metals like copper, aluminium, steel, or brass. They are coated with silver in a process called electrolysis.
Steel:
Steel has been a widely known material to man since the dawn of nature. Chromium, when added by 11%, increases its tensile strength. Chrome steel is utilized in automobiles, sinks, and baths. The other and the most used form of steel is stainless steel, seen in the making of cutlery, utensils, and sinks. Stainless steel also employs chromium which brings in corrosion-resistant commodities.
Stainless steel is notable among other metals when it comes to the hospitality industry. Hotels and restaurants rely on stainless steel appliances to a great extent that they invest huge amounts of profits annually. Furthermore, walk-in freezers equipped entirely in steel are the trend in the present culinary arts. Steel is smooth and nonporous metal. Hence, cleaning the surface becomes effortless.
Copper:
Copper is a pinkish orangish metal that is malleable and ductile. It is also characterized by exceptional thermal conductivity. Vases, bowls, cookware, flasks, and urns are made of copper. Copper also reacts with food and water.
Besides copper cookware, window bannisters in hotel rooms give a rusty finish to the interior.
