Dua

Dua - prayer of invocation. Asking for help from God.

Al-Baqarah 2:186

And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.

'Faith can move mountains' a common sentence used by many. What does it really mean? How can having faith can move mountains?

Also, having faith in Whom?

God?

Yes.

Having faith in God. The Creator, Nourisher and Protector. Having faith is also accepting and being patient, accepting the good and especially the bad.

Having patience in times of adversity and trauma. But what is the essence of faith? Anyone can be patient, anyone can accept things the way it is, but what makes a believer stand out?

It’s Dua, dua alone.

Asking for help from Allah, the exalted means knowing that your problem will come to an end. That’s faith. That is what will move mountains. That is what makes a person humble and at ease.

Firmness:

Making dua with a feeble heart having feeble faith is OKAY. As long as you are making dua it’s fine. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Firmness is important in asking duas, we should strive for a firm heart, but making dua with less or no faith is actually a start. A start to making dua again. Once we taste the sweetness of dua, we wouldn’t stop asking.

Omar (RA) said,

“I am not worried about whether my du’a will be responded to, but rather I am worried about whether I will be able to make du’a or not. So if I have been guided by Allah to make du’a, then (I know) that the response will come with it”. – Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra).

Al-Fatihah 1:5

It is You we worship and You we ask for help.

Hope:

Even with a feeble faith, you still can have hope. After you take a step to make dua, there are no external influences, because the One to Whom you made dua to is the One Who created you, therefore there are no fears, doubts or questions about anything. Hope and patience are parts of dua - hoping that your duas will be accepted and being patient along the way.

Content and disappointment:

Acceptance of dua gives happiness and satisfaction, makes us wanna make dua again and again. But, what if it doesn’t get answered? It has happened several times to me, and what I do is, lose hope in my Creator. Every. Single. Time. So I tell you not to stop making duas even if it seems like nothing has changed.

The Prophet (SAW) also said:

“Allah is Most Generous, and He dislikes to turn away empty the hands of His slave when he raises them to Him.”

[Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi, 3556; classed as Saheeh by Al-Albaani in Saheeh Al-Tirmidhi].

Being persistent in our duas is what makes our trials more rewardable SubhanAllah!

May Allah Almighty forgive us and accept our neverending duas.

An-Nasr 110:3

Then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance.
