1. Allocate separate room for learning
C’mon, give your kids a separate study room to attend online classes. Some parents doesn’t make the mistake of using their living room as a study room for their kids, instead they use a bedroom or a study room. Children deserve separate space for learning especially where there’s less adult activity going on, don’t you agree? And yes, always make sure there’s a toilet within the room.
2. Make the room look serene and enjoyable
A clear room brings about a clear mind – as experts say (idk who that is lol). Things taking away space like clothes, toys, bags, shoes, etc. could be a distraction so put them in an unnoticeable place during class time.
Stick around educational posters of THEIR liking. Use blue, pink, white and yellow colours more as it cheers them up and makes the room vibrant.
And after all the this imagine your phone going off during the class, we never would want that - so make the room device-free.
3. Let them learn along with their siblings
If your children have classes at the same time, then arrange a setting for them to learn together. It makes it more fun and helps them create a classroom atmosphere for themselves. Co-learning with kids near or their own age takes away the burden of learning.
4. Giving rewards, motivates children more
After your kids complete their online session for the day make it a routine for giving them chocolates or allowing them to watch their favourite show or movie or you can even plan for a fun weekend play date or ask them what they want and fulfil their wishes, because online schooling is no joke especially between all this negativity, they need to be rewarded from time and time again.
5. Spend after class hours with indoor recreational activities
Board games, hide and seek, drawing and painting are really amazing ways to freshen up for another day.
6. Cheer them up about online schooling
Homeschooling is very new for some us and also very frustrating, so lamenting about it on a daily basis has become the new normal nowadays. So instead, speak about the bright side of everything.
7. Start reading their books yourself
Alright. You might not have done this, but this helps A LOT. I’ve seen growth in students when I ‘get to know’ their subjects myself before teaching them. Our learning days are long gone, but if we put that extra effort to grasp that curriculum then trust me, there’s no better mentor than you!
